History of Shorts

History of Shorts

Shorts are extremely common these days, especially among children, teenagers, and young adults. There are many different kinds of shorts that serve in a variety of different ways. Such as running shorts, used for sports, and cut-offs, used as a casual fashionable product. Many people, however, don't know the history behind the shorts they wear in their everyday life.

The name shorts comes from the fact that shorts were driven from "shortened" trousers. Shorts first became popular in sports, as they posses flexible and cooling-off properties. Later on, fashion began evolving and shorts became popular amongst only those of the male gender. In Europe and North America, shorts were created for young boys and were worn until the boy reached a certain mature point.
Approximately in the 1940s, shorts began popularizing amongst females. Later on, fashion designers began producing high-quality shorts for females, thus supporting women wearing shorts. Nowadays, shorts worn on women is extremely common and accepted in most cities. Shorts in general have become an important garment for both men and women.
